APJ Abdul Kalam Biography:
Avul Pakir Jainulabdeen Abdul Kalam, popularly known as Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam was an aerospace scientist and the former President of India. He served as 11th President of India from 2002 to 2007.
Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam was born on 15th October 1931, in the small Dhanushkodi village of Rameshwaram, Tamil Nadu. He was born in the middle-class Tamil Muslim family. His father Jainulabdeen was a fisherman and imam of a local mosque, while his mother Ashiamma was a housewife. Kalam was the youngest of his four brothers and one sister in his family. Kalam’s family condition was not much good, and he lived a poor childhood.

Later in his school times, Kalam was average in his studies but due to his strong desire to learn and study he was categorized as a bright and hardworking student. He completed his schooling from Saint Joseph’s College, Tiruchirappalli, and then graduated from the University of Madras, in Physics in the year 1954. Then he moved to Madras in 1955 to study Aerospace engineering from Madras Institute of Technology.
After graduating from here he joined Aeronautical Development Establishment of the Defense Research & Development Organization DRDO as a scientist. This was followed by the transfer ISRO (Indian Space Research Organization) in 1969. Meanwhile, he was elected as a satellite launch project director of India. In the completed project, he very well and then began to realize that I may make this work.
Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam played a major role in developing many missiles under the mission AGNI and mission PRITHVI. He served as the Chief Scientist Adviser & Secretary of the DRDO from 1992 to 1999. During this period Pokhran-II nuclear tests were conducted and he played an intensive political & technological role. And due to all these contributions, he was known as “Missile Man” of India.
Then in 2002, Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam won the Presidential Elections and was elected as 11th President of India. He served his services as the President of India from 25th July 2002 to 25th July 2007.
On 27th July 2015, Dr. Abdul Kalam Kalam, took his last breath and his soul dismissed to rest heavenly forever. His death was a matter of outpouring grief for all Indians. The Government of India declared a 7-Day State Mourning Period as a mark of respect to the true legends of India.
