Bodoland, officially the Bodoland Territorial Area Districts (BTAD), is an autonomous region in the state of Assam which is the gateway to the beautiful North Eastern Region of India which is on the northern bank of the river Brahmaputra, by the foothills of Bhutan and Arunachal Pradesh. The region is mostly inhabited by the indigenous Bodo people and other indigenous communities of Assam. The official map of Bodoland includes four districts (Kokrajhar, Chirang, Baksa & Udalguri) of BTAD recognized by the Government of India and is administered by the Bodoland Territorial Council (BTC), which covers the area of land over 8000 square kilometres.
                  Bodoland is surrounded by its beautiful and unique diversity of culture, traditions, natural surroundings & biosphere. Manas National Park, nature's abode is at the foothills of Bhutan with its unique biodiversity and landscape and is the major tourist attraction of the region. With its spectacular stretch, Manas National Park is the heaven for rare fauna and exotic flora and many endemic wildlife species, and a perfect place for Birding. Baukungri Hill Festival Baukungri Hajw GakwnaiBaukungri Hill: Baukungri Hill, which is mainly famous for hill trekking an exciting adventurous event which is also called as Baukungri Hajw Gakhwnai. The event is organized every year on Bwisagu which is one of the most popular seasonal festivals of Bodo people and is celebrated as New Year which falls in mid of April month according to Bodo Calendar. In the Assamese language, it is also called as Bihu. We Bodo people called this festival as Bwisagu which means the beginning of the New Year. Bwisagu is a Bodo word in which "Bwisa" means Age or Year and "Agu" means Starting or New Beginning. Hence Bwisagu is celebrated as the  New Year. In this event of the Baukungri Hill festival, you will be able to get the experience of different Cultural and traditional fusion from various ethnic groups which can be seen during this event. Tourists can also have the taste of some rich cultural event with wide range of mouth-watering cuisines of the native people.

Jamduar Reserve Forest is the tri-junction of Bhutan, Assam and West Bengal. Jamduar which basically, Jam means "King of Hell" Duar means "The Gate".  It's where you will find yourself overwhelmed by the magnificent Scenic Beauty of the river Sankosh, not to mention its semi evergreen and moist deciduous forest spanning in the foothills of the Great Himalayas. Jamduar also happens to be the place where E.P. Gee (Born in 1904, County Durham, United Kingdom Edward Pritchard Gee was a Cambridge educated, Anglo-Indian tea-planter and an amateur naturalist in Assam, India) first spotted and Discovered The Golden Langur in 1956.

Diplai Beel


Diplai Beel is a large natural wetland covering an area of 4.14 sq km which is just a 30 minutes' drive from Kokrajhar town. Its a  home to a large number of migratory and resident birds. The lake is surrounded by Boro, Rava and Garo community, the north-eastern side of the lake is surrounded by hills with forest which is home to Golden languor. A lot of various types of fishes are found because of Diplai Beel remains full of water for the whole season. Earlier, Diplai Beel was also name known as “Khurua Basha”, Khurua is a kind bird and Basha means nest or dwelling place. Diplai Beel is also known for it's spectacular and beautiful picnic spot and boating lake for the visitors.

Bogamati Bodoland River Rafting
A paradise for nature lovers and a perfect tourist spot for picnickers, which lies at the mouth of river ‘Barnadi’ on the foothills on Indo-Bhutan border, in the Baksa district Bogamati is surrounded with Greenery and hills which creates a serene getaway for travelers, couples and family alike. Here, you will see the beautiful Bornadi river flowing downhill. 'Bogamati'  refers to a white river in the Assamese and derives its name from 'Boga' means white and 'Mati' means sand and stone in the banks of the river. The place is inhabited by Bodos, Assamese, and Nepalese. One can enjoy some of the following activities like ropeway river crossing, river rafting as well as trekking to the golden Buddha statue in the unadulterated hill nearby which is a symbol of peace and to strengthen ties with neighboring country Bhutan. Best time to visit the place between January and December to witnesses crowd and livelihood. One can reach the following destination from kokrajhar which is 203km away ride by road.
